He was accused of one of the most high profile gang killings of 2015. When prominent gang figure, Kareem "Robbery" Lopez was slain on Central American Boulevard in January of that year - Troy Hyde was accused of the high profile murder.
But, three years later, Hyde got out on bail - because the crown was taking too long to bring the case.
And when it finally went for trial today before Justice Ricardo O'Neil Sandcroft in the Supreme Court, the murder case was dismissed as a nolle pros. With that Hyde walked out of the courtroom free. But it is not an acquittal, and the DPP's office can still bring back the charge if some compelling evidence appears.
Lopez, a reputed George Street gang member, was shot and killed on January 5, 2015. He went to purchase food on Central American Boulevard and had just exited his car, when he was sprayed with gunfire and died on the spot.
Back in 2015 police alleged that they had surveillance footage of the murder, placing Hyde at the scene, but that never panned out.
