And in another murder update, we are now approaching the 2-month mark since 19 year old Imarie Galvez was murdered. No arrests have been made to date. The Belmopan teenager was reported missing on May 15th and her body was found 24 hours later off a feeder road on the hummingbird highway. Police have managed to unearth Galvez's phone but have not managed to unlock it.
The commissioner told the media today that their investigations have narrowed the case down to one suspect. However, they have not gathered substantial evidence to be able to levy charges against the individual. Compol further explains.

"We are still trying to work with our counterparts to see if we will be able to get into the phone. It's an iPhone and you all would know the difficulty with iPhone it is not an easy phone to get into. And so we have tried several mechanisms so far we have not been able to. Nonetheless we continue to see what we can do to be able to get into that phone."

"Have you guys identified any new suspects in her disappearance?"

"No we still believe that it is the person we suspected all along, and we are trying to see if we can get the evidence."

"So the issue has to do more than likely with gathering substantial evidence towards making an arrest, arresting this person?"

"Yes of course we need to get the evidence to be able to lay charges in the absence of that we cannot lay charges"
