And last week, we told you about the redistricting proposal that was leaked, showing the changes that may occur with the boundaries of the constituencies and the creation of new electoral divisions. Of course, it's just a proposal, and most ministers have kept tight-lipped about it, waiting for it to be tabled in the House of Representatives at mid month. And today the PM said he's also going to wait for the debate inside the National Assembly.
John Briceno, Prime Minister

"The process is that the committee hands it to the Elections and Boundaries Commission, they review it and if they accept the recommendations or make any changes, then that will be tabled to the National Assembly. I'm not sure if the Prime Minister tables it or if it's going to be the Minister responsible for the Elections and Boundaries Commission. The process is from the committee, the Elections and Boundaries Commission, and then it goes on to the National Assembly for debate and to be able to either accept or not."
Reporter:
"Any concerns at this time about the proposal because I know that was issued to the different political parties."
John Briceno, Prime Minister
"Well, it was not issued officially to any political parties. What has happened is that one member decided to hand it over to their political party, that should have stayed within them. But the thing is that we live in a vibrant democracy and you could never please 100% so it only requires one person to say I'm not happy to want to take out a court, or to challenge it in the court. What is important and I've mentioned it to the Minister responsible for the Elections and Boundaries Commission which is Minister Henry Charles Usher that it is important that whatever comes to the House, that it can withstand the scrutiny of the court."
The redistricting proposals are expected to face multiple legal channels.
