And on Monday, we told you about the murder of 34-year-old Orel Leslie, whose vehicle was raked with bullets as he sat in the driver's seat. His former girlfriend, and current city councillor, Deannie Requena went to Facebook to express her grief, but in her post said, quote, "PIV did it once again… when the tables turn, I'll rejoice." End quote.

Some interpreted this to mean that she'd celebrate the death of the PIV gang members involved in this murder, and today the media asked the mayor if this kind of public pronouncement was condoned by the council.

Bernard Wagner, Mayor of Belize City
"Well for that comment you will have certainly ask the councillor, the question. You are posing to me you will have to ask her. She is a councillor and she speaks for herself, I speak on behalf of the council and so that question I will have no comment on that, you will have ask the good councillor on that issue."

Reporter:
"But as the mayor, is that something you sanction, engaging criminal elements on social media?"

Bernard Wagner, Mayor of Belize City
"No we don't."
