Tonight, Belize police have teamed up with the DEA to try and find out who. The South American pilots are who stole a Maya Island Air plane from the Placencia airport and crashed it seconds later, perishing in the explosion and fire that ensued.
But, what was on the plane that was causing those explosions we heard right after the crash? Did it include ammunition, aviation fuel, or even possibly drugs?
Today, we asked the Commissioner and the Minister about a possible drug cargo and local counterparts:

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"No there was no cargo on the plane and our investigation into that matter continues where we are in constant dialogue with our counterparts in Venezuela Argentina, as well as the DEA attached here in Belize to see what we can gather on those individuals, there are certain things that we have gathered yes that I am not going to divulge to the media this time as the investigation is still ongoing."
"Yes we do believe that there were Belizeans involved in that operation. There is nowhere the foreigners could've come to Belize. I know exactly where to go and what to do and saw that the Belizeans had to be involved. We have not been able to identify the person or persons who are in that vehicle? Neither have we been able to identify the vehicle. We believe that the boat may have gone to Honduras, as we also believe that it may have also come from Honduras. I went to that location so like I said, we are still looking at the investigation and see what further information we can gather to take the investigation further."
