Tonight, the Commissioner of Police is preparing to revoke the gun license issued to City Council employee Brandon Tillett. He's a bailiff at the municipal court - but yesterday he was a son trying to defend his mother - at her mother's funeral - but he took it too far.
He did it - he says - to quell a family dispute where he claims his mom was being bullied by her siblings. Tillett took his licensed.223 rifle from his vehicle and was seen approaching the church, assault rifle in hand.
This video was captured by a relative - who Tillett says is part of the dispute with his mother.
The difficulty centered over his grandmother, Clarita Peyrefitte's funeral. Tillett said he and his mother had been her providers and care givers - and upon her death - he says other family members unfairly tried to take over.
And while these family squabbles do happen, why did he pull out such a dangerous weapon - in front of a church and at a funeral - of all times and places!? Tillett - who also holds a license for a 9mm pistol - told us it was a mistake, an error in judgement which he made when he felt his mother was being victimized by her siblings.
Today, commissioner Chester Williams - who gave Tillett the license for the.223 rifle early this year - said he now stands to lose both licenses:
Reporter:
"I'm not sure if you've got the video of the Licensed gun owner seen brandishing a.223 rifle in front of church - what will happen to him?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"Well I have, I saw the video and I must say your news director sent it to me and I am extremely concerned about it. It is not proper for a licensed gun holder to be brandishing a firearm especially one of that caliber in public and more so infront of a church so u have given instructions to GI3 to go and search his home and retrieve those weapons from there and then we will make whatever effort needs to be done to have those weapons confiscated from him."
Reporter:
"He got that license for the 2..3 rifle early this year under your hand - when he already had the license for a 9mm - why did you give him another?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"He is not the first or the only person to have two gun licenses. Many many people have gun licenses have more than one he is clearly a person you refer to of society he is a bailiff at the courts he is not a criminal or a person suspected to be a criminal and he may have had a bad judgment on that day and he is going to suffer the consequences of that."
And while that is the gun matter - the family dispute lingers on - and a second funeral - in the form of a memorial without the body - which has been buried - was held for the deceased today by other family members.
