Tonight, two men are recovering from injuries sustained after they allegedly robbed a grocery store in San Pablo village in the Orange Walk District.
Yesterday at around 5:45, two men robbed Jay's Mini Mart. The men went into the store pretending to buy beers, but one of them attacked a customer, and held a knife to his throat while the other went behind the counter, pointed a knife at the cashier and helped himself to over $1500 in cash along with a couple beers. The men dashed off but they didn't get far though, because villagers caught them shortly after and beat them up badly. After subduing the men and recovering the stolen cash and beers, they tied them up and held them for police. They have been identified as residents of Orange Walk Town and are detained pending robbery charges.
