Today, two men were sent to jail for stealing a licensed firearm. Police got the suspects, but have not recovered the weapon. 24 year old Edward James Saldano - a notorious street figure known as Scrubbie and 21-year-old Elan White were each taken to court on a charge of robbery.
The allegation is that on Friday they held up a 64 year old resident of San Juan, Stann Creek. At 8:40 in the morning, Dennis Morey had the misfortune to find himself at the corner of West Canal and Prince Street - which is where Saldano is known to operate. Morey told police that one of the men pointed a gun to his head and the other searched him and and took his loaded.38 revolver. They then rode off on bicycles.
In Court the duo both pleaded not guilty, but due to the nature of the offense, bail was denied and both men were remanded until April 22, 2024.
