


And while that orderly destruction of firearms is a good thing - a not so good thing happened over the Christmas when police were destroying - or badly damaging their patrol vehicles at the rate of one per week.
Today we asked the Minister about it - and he said - blame the other driver!

"Can you give us a comment on the police who in the conduct of their duties, they have been crashing a number of vehicles from since December. What can be done to preserve these important operational assets?"

"It's almost as if though you were at our national security council meeting just now Jomarie. This is another topic of discussion that came up and there were three instances in the north of the country which was not the fault of the police. I think in two instances it was drunk drivers crashing into police vehicles and in one instance the road caving in while the police motor vehicle was parked and so it is very concerning. We do of course advocate on a daily basis for police officers to take care while on the road to take care while in possession of the assists of the government and so it is certainly something that is on our radar and we are addressing."
