The Fisheries Department has added one more vehicle to its fleet, as well as an outboard engine, both of which they received from the Blue Bond and Finance Permanence Unit. It's a part of a larger project called - (DEEP BREATH), "Establishing The Enabling Environment For The Development Of A Marine Spatial Plan Through Strengthened Governance, Improved Management, And Enhanced Monitoring Of Belize's Coastal And Marine Resources."
It doesn't quite roll off the tongue, but hopefully the money does roll. The project itself is valued at 11.7 million dollars, and today's donation was $130,040.
The purpose of the vehicle donation is to strengthen the fisheries governance and management effectiveness in Belize's blue space, which in terms supports the Blue Bond commitments. The money was allocated through the Belize Fund for a Sustainable Future.
