It's every vehicle owner's worst nightmare - to park your car to truck in front of your home and wake up to find it smashed by another car.
That's what happened to Abdul Quddus on Sunday morning at 4:00 am when he heard a loud bang outside his window on Wood Street. He scrambled out of bed to find that a Chevy Equinox had flipped on its driver's side and crashed into his Toyota Four Runner.
The Equinox had no license plate but it was driven by an off duty police officer, 24 year old Ryan Timmons. He received minor injury and notably refused to provide a blood or urine sample. Reports say he had been arrested and charged for common assault for a Domestic matter but the case was dropped at court.
Surveillance video from the area shows the police officer's vehicle speeding "u-stop"or against the flow of traffic, flying over pound yard bridge and then barreling down Cemetery Road, and then careening into the gas station and ricocheting across Wood Street to where the Four Runner was parked.
It's a gross traffic offence, and while he was served with a notice of intended prosecution It's unclear if he has been charged. We'll have more on this tomorrow.
