And, tonight we will end the news as we began it, with more information on Hurricane Beryl and the threat the storm poses to Belize.

Today in his remarks, the Chief Met Officer said that even if the storm just skirts by Belize - it should serve the purpose of a wake up call to a very active season with a volatile climate for major storms:

Ronald Gordon, Chief Meteorological Officer
"Certainly we need to remain vigilant. We are still early in the hurricane season. We do expect a very very active 2024 Atlantic basin hurricane season so my advice to the public is that we can use this opportunity to certainly revise our hurricane plan. Of course it is not over yet so we still do not know to what extent we will be impacted precisely but certainly I think it is an opportunity for us to prepare because we do know that the months of September and October are typically when we are most affected so if we are having one as early as July then certainly the chances are that we will see a next one farther up in the year so certainly I think it is an opportunity to be prepared. And I want to close off by reminding persons that a tropical storm watch again means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area. It isn't a 100% certain as yet we are under a watch because we want persons to start preparing and persons to start taking the necessary actions to protect life and property."
