And while that is not expected to impact Belize - winds on the periphery of the storm could affect the north - and that is why Belize has been placed under a Tropical Storm Watch as of 6:00 pm tonight. Gordon explained why:

Ronald Gordon, Chief MET Officer

"Given the fact that we will likely experience tropical storm force winds and there's a possibility of tropical storm force winds for the northern part of the country. We have been communicating with the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida and I have advised the national emergency coordinator who has liaise with the Prime Minister, and we will be declaring a tropical storm watch at the 6 p.m. advisory coming out well at 6 p.m. this evening."

"That will extend from Belize City northward to the border, including, of course, the islands of San Pedro and Caye Caulker. Tropical storm watch in this case means that tropical storm conditions are possible."

"I emphasize possible, within the watch area during the next 48 to 72 hours. In this case, late Thursday night into Friday morning."

The Prime Minister is currently in Panama for the Transfer of Command to the Newly Elected president Jose Molino.

He is expected to return tomorrow.
