A security guard was in court today after he allegedly stole a police officer's cellphone. 50-year-old Martin Carcamo, who works at the Michael Finnegan Market, was charged with one count of theft.
According to reports, on Monday a police woman went to the market about 6:30 in the morning to purchase food. While she was having breakfast, she put her black iPhone 12 on the counter and sat down next to it. Minutes later, a man approached the stall and swiped her phone. The officer realized it was missing but when she asked him for it, he denied having the phone. He walked away from her, and she followed, identifying herself as a cop. That's when he handed her back the phone and she made a report.
At the arraignment, Carcamo pleaded not guilty. There was no objection to bail so he was offered it in the sum of $1,200 plus one surety of the same amount.
