He is also accused of blackmailing and kidnapping Lloyd and Rose Friessen. That trial started earlier this week in Belmopan before Justice Francis Cumberbatch. It is a jury trial and Mason is represented by Senior Counsel Hubert Elrington and Rhaburn is represented by Senior Counsel Simeon Sampson.
Arguments were made before the judge this afternoon in a closed "trial within a trial" and an interim ruling is expected on that tomorrow.
The trial against Mason and Rhaburn is before a jury of 9 persons, four women and five men.
Mason and Rhaburn are on trial charged with two counts of Kidnapping of a Mennonite couple, Lloyd and Rosey Friessen which is alleged to have occurred on May 31, 2016. After he allegedly kidnapped them, Mason is said to have demanded that Lloyd Friessen pay him $2,500 dollars weekly for protection.
