Around 1:00 pm, Jazer Cho was found unresponsive in a 5 foot deep pond near his home.
His father, Bernardo Cho, attempted CPR after retrieving him from the pond but was unsuccessful.
Police were notified and transported the boy's body to Punta Gorda Town Hospital.

Edna Ramirez, Principal Bethel Advnetist Primary School
"Jazer was a friendly student, willing person, always with ambition, very dedicated to his work. Always smiling, always willing to help whenever someone needed like didn't understand a concept. He was always there willing to help his fellow classmate. And I know that Jazer will sadly be missed by his class mates. This entire student body of Bethel Adventist school, the staff, myself and also parents."
"Jazer was going into standard 4 for this school year. So I know we have a loss and as I said, it's a great loss for out school. Jazer always participated like in when we had field day. He was a sports person. He also is in the police cadet. He would always say, Miss, I need to finish my work early so I could go to the cadet."
"Very dedicated student, as I said. And also if there were any contest, we would have like little spelling bee contest, Garifuna contest amongst ourselves, social studies courses. He was always willing to take up the challenge. Always smiling, always. He would always go out on to the different classes and would ask the teachers if they needed help. And he was always sweeping for them."
"Also checking on his younger brother who was in Standard 1?"
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
