He lied to one cop and then tried to bribe another to fix it

Today a man was also convicted for attempting to corrupt a police officer. Police alleged that Phillip McKenzie offered a cop him a bribe of $40 dollars. This morning McKenzie - who is no stranger to police - appeared before the Chief Magistrate where he was read two criminal charges of mischievous act and attempting to bribe a police officer.

What was the mischievous act? Police say McKenzie gave an officer a false name. He compounded it when he then tried to pay a police officer $40 dollars to talk to the other cop and convince him not to charge McKenzie for giving a false name.
