And from trade to trains, If you've been to Chetumal lately it's hard to ignore the board footprint of the construction of the Tren Maya railway system.
Purely in terms of scale, scope and ambition, it's a project to be marveled at - even in its preparatory stages.
And while the train tracks stop in Chetumal - Belize has been asking if they could extend a little closer to our border. Here's what Mai said about the possibilities for Belize and Tren Maya:
Jose Mai, Minister of Agriculture

"I think it is too early to ask the details of the project what we want is to understand the concept. Can we do it? Will it be and can the Tren Maya have a station at the border in Belize so the tourists traveling from Guatemala come into Belize don't have to board a bus or have tourists coming from San Pedro to the border and then hoping on the train and then going all the way to Cancun and or different destinations and vice versa they can do the same bring their tourists up to the border here in Belize and go through immigration and then we can take them all the way to our bus stations in Belize so that is one and two is the possibility of extending into Belize I do not know yet what are the different details of that but we atleast want to have it at the border not only for tourists but remember the Tren Maya also transports goods so we export cattle to Mexico and it's not a possibility so we are looking at all those and we import things from Mexico too form Merida and from different parts of Mexico so maybe it will lower our costs of transportation and goods from Mexico to Belize so again these are the things we need to discuss and it all has to be well detailed well analyzed those are the things we hope to get done this year."
