Tonight, a 55 year old Belizean/Lebanese Businessman from Santa Elena town is detained after he threatened a security guard at the Ministry of Natural Resources with a firearm.
It happened early this morning at around 8:30 when the man went inside the building for service and was told that he had to get a numbered ticket and line up with everyone else.
But he refused - and when he was taken outside, he had an exchange of words with security which quickly escalated into threats to kill the guard followed by a declaration that he had a gun. After cranking his pistol - and terrorizing the other people waiting, the man drove off.
Police caught up with him a few hours later and he is now held pending charges. And while the footage has been widely circulated - we still have to wait and see what the security guard was doing on the other side of the door.
When we spoke to CEO Paul Thompson today he told us He met with the police and further security measures will be put in place.
Three police officers and two security guards are assigned to the Ministry ofNatural Resources building.
