The UDP Party chairman sat in on today's proceedings and spoke with us this afternoon via zoom about the no case submission. He said it's high time someone said something, and he's glad Figueroa followed through with court action even if they were unsuccessful.

Mike Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman

"Dr Figueroa, as you know, is the standard bearer for the Cayo North constituency. And so, Godwin Haylock was his lawyer this morning. Generally speaking, I don't put too much energy into electoral objections because they're hardly ever successful."

"But I was there this morning to support Dr Figueroa, because I can understand his frustration. Here you are. You have these registering officers who clearly are a part and parcel of the padding. When you have a padding of the voters lists in certain constituencies."

"When you have like a Karim Adle, who lives in a one bedroom apartment upstairs of the Ministry of Human Development house in Cayo. And you're telling me that 15 people live there. I mean, as unsuccessful as electoral challenges are, I mean, that's something that you have to bring to the attention of the public."

"When you have 15 to 17 people registered at an abandoned property. I mean, that's something that you have to bring or try and bring to the attention of the court. I would have loved to have seen the registering officer be called."

"I would have loved to have seen the so -called chief occupants of these properties called. But amazingly, and I will use the word amazingly, I can't remember the last time I've seen a no case submission in a civil matter."

"That just doesn't happen. Civil matters are balance of probabilities matters and usually two sides present their case and then the judge can weigh. I have never seen someone present a side of a civil situation and a no case of mission is entertained, much less accepted."
