He's a true legend of the south - both famous for his farming and infamous for being designated - however unfairly - as a kingpin. And tonight, John Zabaneh is no more. The 69 year old died of a massive heart attack this morning. His nephew Dr. Louis Zabaneh told us more:
Dr Louis Zabaneh, Nephew of Deceased

"The family, we are all saddened on the passing of my Uncle John, which occurred this morning, a little after eight in the morning at the Southern Regional Hospital. He was admitted around seven with complications and a little after eight, he succumbed."
"And yeah, and we are tremendously grateful for the many people who have expressed sympathies and condolences to us. He was just a people's person and he had a special spot for those persons in need. And so a hardworking, very intelligent man. And knowing him, he had his own way of looking at the world."
Zabaneh was the father of 10 children and - as per his wishes - his funeral will be held tomorrow.
Later on in the news Jules Vasquez looks at his complicated legacy.
