The Haulover bridge was opened just over a year ago - but vandals are already having their way with it. The MIDH circulated a video today showing that a portion of the aluminum railing separating vehicular and pedestrian traffic had been cut off and stolen. An impassioned statement from the Ministry calls it "a selfish act of blatant vandalism." They add, quote, "approximately 4km of guardrails along the Coastal Plain Highway have been damaged, most likely due to reckless driving, within just one year of the highway's completion….the Government and people of Belize now bear the BZ$1.3 million cost (of) repair." END QUOTE.
