Late yesterday afternoon, there was a shooting as the result of an attempted robbery at the Puma Gas Station in Black Man Eddy Village, Cayo District. 44-year-old businessman William Wall of Little Belize, along with two sidemen reported thatchy were buying fuel for their cargo truck when two men on a motorcycle approached.

One of the assailants, wearing a long-sleeved shirt, brandished a 9mm pistol and demanded money. Wall attempted to flee, but the armed man dismounted the motorcycle and chased him, firing two shots into the ground. Debris from the gunfire struck Wall's right foot and his abdomen area.

Wall then handed over $8,000 in cash to the gunman, who fled in the direction of Teakettle Village.

Police retrieved two 9mm expended shells from the scene.
