Tonight we note the passing of former UDP Area Representative for Dangriga, Arthur William Roaches -known as "Turo".
Roaches died early this morning in the Southern Regional Hospital after a stroke and heart attack. He was 75.
Roaches was a one term area rep for Dangriga from 2008 to 2012 and he also served as senator for a term before that.
He was a former career public officer and a legendary footballer. Today, his former colleague remembered him fondly:
Michael Finnegan, Former Colleague
"First thing came to mind, he was a hell of footballer. From 1960 to now with all the football players in that era, I pick, he was picked in my first 11."
"He was a career civil servant, he worked I would imagine his entire career before he retired int he audit department before he retired. He was an auditor."

"One of the most decent human beings you could come across was Turo Roaches. And that is all I am going to say: Turo was an exceptional, decent human being."
Roaches' son, Arthur Junior says he had a number of children. He is expected to have an official funeral.
