

And there was also a tragic double drowning in that same geographical area. It happened on Saturday evening when a father was trying to save his drowning son - and they both drowned. Here's more:
The Cisco River is frequented by families in the village of San Juan and Cowpen, but if you're not careful you can easily be swept away by its strong currents and undertows.
That's what happened to 2 members of the Cal family on Saturday evening. Police and rescuers were called to the area after 17 year old Elroy Cal and his father 45 year old Thomas Cal drowned while swimming.

"Upon their arrival, they learnt that two persons had attempted to rescue a male person who was in the river. This person was successfully rescued however the other two persons were dragged by the currents and they didn't not resurface. They were identified as Thomas Cal and Elroy Cal. Searches were done, the bodies were recovered. The bodies are presently awaiting a postmortem examination."

"I do not know if there were any safety warnings, however the river is deep and there are strong currents in that river."
According to a police report though Elroy, the teenaged son had fallen into the river, and his father went in after him, but both men were struggling to stay afloat, and swim out of the river's strong currents, and both of them went under. With the assistance of villagers their bodies were retrieved 3 hours after they had drowned.
