Today, the UDP Parliamentarians held a press conference at their headquarters on Euphrates Avenue. Leader of the Opposition Tracy Panton demanded more from Prime Minister Briceno:

"And the kind of lackluster response from the Prime Minister's office today does not help the situation. And what did the report actually say? According to the PM, it was lacking. And my reports say it was grossly lacking."
"We sir, we the Belizean people need more than a press release. This case must be viewed as a serious national security threat. If the state itself is involved in the abduction of its own citizens, then no Belizean can feel safe in our own country."
"Again, the lackluster response of the PM at this point should raise even greater concern. Who is he protecting? We must demand the answers we need in this very egregious breach of our national security."
"And to demand three things. One, the immediate release of all surveillance footage reportedly seized by the police. Two, an independent investigation into this abduction. And I mean strictly independent."
"And three, firing, removing from office the Commissioner of Police. Putting him on a temporary 45 days leave does not go far enough."
