And while that happened on Friday, there were no major incidents reported on Saturday in Belize City. And that may have been because swarms of officers were deployed to ensure that the Carnival Road March went off without a hitch. According to ACP Romero, there were some incidents that the police were able to prevent - including getting a firearm off the streets. Here's what he told us.

ACP Hilberto Romero, HNCIB

"On Saturday, several additional police personnel were deployed to Belize City for the carnival. There were small incidents of small fights however persons were detained. Also of note is that searches were conducted on a male person at the BTL park where he was found with a 9mm pistol along with 15 live rounds. This person has been arrested and charged for kept firearm and ammunition and he's a minor."

Courtney Menzies:
"Is he known to police?"

ACP Hilberto Romero, HNCIB
"No he's not known to police."

Courtney Menzies:
"How did police get information that he might have had something on him."

ACP Hilberto Romero, HNCIB
"There was an altercation, police responded, they conducted searches on several persons and he was found with the firearm."

The 14 year old minor was arraigned this morning. He pleaded not guilty to both charges of kept unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He was remanded to the New Beginning facility at Mile 21 on the George Price Highway.
