And so while the acting Commissioner is not recommending an SOE- it's probably because while many persons were shot over the weekend - very fortunately, most of the shots did not prove to be fatal.
The wild shooting started on Friday at 3:45 pm at mile three on the Phillip Goldson Highway when a staggering 90 rounds were reportedly fired - and only two men in the targeted vehicle received minor injury. Police told us more.

"Glenford Reid had received gunshot injuries. Information is that he was in a vehicle along with four other persons when the vehicle followed him and they fired several shots towards him, causing the injury to Reid."
"Thereafter the vehicle fled from the area, we recovered a number of shells from the area. Glenford Reid then discharged himself from the hospital. This matter remains on investigation. We are seeking one person in regards to this shooting."

"They were heading to Belize City when they spotted that the vehicle that was following them, they turned around and that is when the vehicle followed and they fired shots at them, they ended up by Maheia's."

"Yeah, they turned around, they drove at a high speed. Thereafter they parked the vehicle and they ran off. That is how they were not hit. The shots were fired at the vehicle, so they exited the vehicle by the time all those shots were fired."

"It was a small SUV or mid-size, it would be called, SUV that shot after them, two men were inside. They had their windows down, that they sped off northbound. Were you all able to set up any VCPs to try and intercept them?"

"Checkpoint was activated in Ladyville, however, the vehicle was not located. We are reviewing cameras to see where that vehicle went. All we know is that when we responded and the checkpoint was set up, the vehicle could not be found."
