Another incident, this one in Caye Caulker, has led police to detain an Asian Business man for shooting one of his countrymen with a licensed firearm. ASP Smith told us what the motive for this attack was.

"On Wednesday 17th December 2025 officers attached to the San Pedro Police station formally arrested and charged 45 year old Jun Men Zhao for the offense of use deadly means of harm and wounding, these charges stem from from polices investigation into a shooting incident that occurred on Monday 15th December at 1:15 Pm at the Enjoy hotel which is located on Passero street in Caye Caulker. What the investigators have gathered so far is that it is alleged that Zhao went to that property and produced his license firearm and fired a single shot to the leg of Chen. Chen was escorted to the hospital for treatment where the doctor classified his injury as wounding and Zhao was later apprehended by the police."
"What we know so far is that the injured male person is in a common law relationship with the ex wife of the defendant."
Again, that incident was in Caye Caulker and not San Pedro.
