A 41-year-old Belizean laborer, Linden Kelly of New Site, Dangriga remains in critical condition following a machete-fight in Rivas Estate on Friday around 6:30 p.m.
78-year-old Harold Nunez reported to police that Linden Kelly went to his home looking for his girlfriend, and when he couldn't find her he left and returned armed with a machete.
That's when he was confronted by two men and a fight ensued. Kelly sustained severe head and facial injuries and was found unresponsive. A CT scan performed on December 20 and interpreted revealed brain swelling, multiple fractures to skull and facial bones, along with other head traumas doctors have classified as life-threatening.
Police have detained two in connection to this incident - while the victim's family waits to see if he starts to show any brain activity.
