And, the other murder happened yesterday afternoon when an elderly man was found chopped to death in Santa Martha village in Orange Walk.
70-year-old Francisco Garcia's body was discovered in bushes near his farm on Santa Martha Road on Monday afternoon.
He was over 100 feet from his house, clad only in underwear with multiple chop wounds to the face.
But why was he killed so brutally? According to his wife, who chose to remain off camera, the killers stole multiple items from the home.

"Every morning, afternoon, and the night I call him. And that morning, yesterday morning I was calling him and he didn't answer the phone. I call him eight o'clock."
Police found the blood stained machete which may have been used to kill him. Notably this is the second senior citizen killed on a Santa Martha farm in 8 months. 68 year old Esthel Trapp was killed in August 2025.
