There was a shooting in the city yesterday evening. The victim, Karch Burns was targeted inside his vehicle on Baghdad Street and remains in critical condition tonight.
ACP Hilberto Romero says they believe the shooting stems from a prior incident involving the victim.

"On Sunday the 3rd day of May 2026 police responded to a shooting incident in the Bagdad street area in Belize city upon the arrival they learned that someone had been shot and the person drove to the KHMH for treatment. Police went to the KHMh where they saw Karch Burns with several gunshot injuries he reported that he was in his vehicle when he was fired upon by a male person and he received several injuries. Karch Burns remains at the KHMh in a critical condition at this time."
"The only information is that he had an incident days before at pound yard with some other persons over a vehicle."
"He was the intended target and he had an incident there prior so we speculate that has something to do with it."
