Dexter Diego, a police officer already under interdiction for previous sexual offenses, is back behind bars tonight. Diego appeared in the Belize City Magistrate's Court this afternoon to face four new counts of rape of a child, allegedly committed while he was out on bail for a similar case. Diego, originally from Dangriga, appeared before Senior Magistrate Mannon Dennison this afternoon. The charges against him specify a disturbing timeline: three counts of rape allegedly occurred in December 2024 when the victim was 10 years old, and a fourth count allegedly occurred in 2025 when the minor was 11 years old.
Because of the seriousness of the offence, no bail could be offered and Diego was remanded to the Belize Central Prison. He is scheduled to return to court on July 8, 2026.
On August 11, 2023, he was arraigned on five counts of unlawful sexual intercourse involving a 14-year-old. That case is pending a high court trial.
