A new little Miss St. John's will be crowned on Friday night. Don't call it a beauty pageant because it's really a fundraiser. In fact, this year the contest will be held with an interesting twist. We stopped by rehearsals today to meet the 5 contestants and to find out what's new.

Keisha Garbutt, Pageant Coordinator
"This year the contestants are focusing on cultures of Belize. Last week we had an open day featuring these cultures. Each class depicted one culture and then on Friday, all the children have learnt the dances, the food, languages, and so on, we will show that in our pageant.

Our pageant is our third term fundraiser to help defray costs of paying our bills and so forth. Friday night will be filled with fun, entertainment, come and learn more about your culture. The girls are well prepared so its just a night of fun and cultural extravagance."

The new Miss St. John's will be chosen on Friday night beginning at 6 pm at the St. Mary's Parish Hall. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children under age 13.
