Earlier, we told you about the official investigation into baby Kimorah Leslie's death and that the ministry is pressing the investigating team for a more definitive finding. But while they look for answers, the politics of healthcare delivery continue to bedevil Belize's national referral hospital.

After a brief impasse, the KHMH is again without neurosurgical services but it's not for want of trying. Today the Ministry of Health offered Dr. Joel Cervantes a renewal of his contract with the KHMH under the same terms and conditions which he had been originally hired. But the other neurosurgeon Dr. Geovanni Lara, was not offered a contract. That's not good enough for Cervantes who today told us that the neurosurgical unit can only operate properly if it is staffed by two neurosurgeons and because his colleague is being left out, he did not accept the offer.

This ends the goodwill gesture on the part of the doctors that on Friday saw them enter the hospital on a humanitarian mission to service emergency and life threatening cases.
