And while at noon the Salvation Army was giving - at 3:30 the army was on the receiving end. The staff of Tropical Gaming Company - the Lotto - this afternoon handed over a check to Major Errol Robateau. Lotto's Denise Thompson says they are happy to help while Major Robateau says the money will go a long way.
Major Errol Robateau, Salvation Army
"This donation will help us to go much further. Actually if I tell you what we need, this would go a little way but we appreciate donations like this because it really gives us a big push. And our work continues not only at Christmas time but throughout the year. I have already promised, especially the elderly, that we will try to enhance the food program and I have had to turn away a few, which I don't like to do, but next year we will be able to do better and we will be able to help more of the elderly which we continue to do during the year."
Denise Thompson, Lotto
"We decided to help the Salvation Army because it is a an organization that helps everybody."
Major Robateau stresses that the army is still in need of more toys and you can drop those off at their office on Regent Street. The toys will go to children in the districts.
