She's known to 7NEWS as the woman who we featured living in the Battlefield Park because she had nowhere to go. Since then her children were taken away by Social Services only for one of them to tragically drown during an outing held by the children's home caring for her. Now Bernadine Fitzgibbon who's always wanted to have her remaining child 4-year-old Moesha with her is regularly seen wandering the streets of Belize City. This afternoon we again found Bernadine but she was unable to walk. She had laid down at the parking lot of the Social Security building on Princess Margaret Drive, she could walk no more. She was within meters of the KHMH but no one would come to her aid until a passerby decided that she could not be allowed to stay on the street without care.
Stanley Lizama,
"I observed and I looked over there and I saw the lady there and then I wanted to know how she didn't get help from anyone and most of the people over there are from the hospital and so the lady could have died there. I don't know what is happening with this country, this country gaan. A young man passed in a car and said that if it was someone rich with money, they would have taken them a long time. I don't like the situation because a lot of our poor people are punishing at this place. Look how close she was to the hospital and yet she could have died. If it was something else and like a real emergency system and she was attacked and thing, she could have died."
The person who picked up Bernadine was Stanley Lizama.
