We begin tonight with sad news. Information to 7NEWS is that Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry into DFC David Price is dead. Price passed away at 3 this morning in Cuba where he was receiving treatment for complications of diabetes which significantly impaired his health over the past few months. He was flown to Cuba about a month ago for treatment but never recovered.
Price was a staunch proponent for transparency and good governance and was last year appointed to serve as the Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry into DFC. He had earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of the West Indies in 1975. He then pursued a Master's Degree in political science from Gainesville Florida after which he returned to Belize to become a lifetime lecturer serving at Saint John's College, the University of Belize, UWI and being the principal of Gwen Lizarraga High School.
He will be remembered as mild-mannered, fair, and even-tempered man. We express our condolences to his family.
