Over the weekend the Muslim community celebrated the Holiday of Eid-al-Adha, or the "Festival of the Sacrifice."

On Sunday the Eid Prayer was delivered at the Mosque on Central American Boulevard.

The Bangladeshi and Muslim community then took 3 cows that were bought to slaughter, into city neighborhoods for free distribution.

Normally this station covers the slaughter and distribution in the parking area behind Red House by the Vernon St. fish market.

This year however with new BAHA Regulations that took effect, the animals were bought and slaughtered in Orange Walk and the meat shipped to the city for distribution.

And while the meat is given away freely in the spirit of the observance, the muslim community had a hard time explaining this to some wary city residents - who were suspicious of getting something for nothing.
