A female tourist is recovering at her hotel after she was reportedly attacked by a crocodile last night.

It happened off the south end of San Pedro. 39 year old Renee Dessommes was reportedly in the sea looking for a diamond earring when she was attacked by a large crocodile.

Dessomes escaped but needed about 75 stitches to treat her injuries. Fortunately, those injuries are not life threatening and tonight, personnel from ACES, the American Crocodile Education Sanctuary are looking for the animal to relocate it.

ACES says that crocs are common on the lagoon side, but when they are hungry, they move into the seas adjoining the north and south of the island.

ACES wants resorts on the north and south ends of the island to caution guests against swimming in the sea at night, where crocs tend to move from the lagoon unto the sea side.
