Oceana has identified it's 2020 National Wavemaker, she is Carina Paz of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. Paz was honored with the National Wavemaker Award during the NGO's first virtual Annual General meeting.

Paz found her love for marine protection and education at an early age. She's already organized and hosted two marine exhibitions, broken records as the youngest swimmer to complete the "Swim to the Reef" event, spearheaded numerous cleanup campaigns on the island, and served as the youth ambassador and lecturer at Green Reef Summer camps for the years 2013-2015. Here's a snippet from her acceptance speech.

Paz wasn't the only awardee During the AGM, several Wavemakers were awarded certificates of appreciation for their sensational support for Oceana's campaigns and initiatives over the past year. These awardees included the Rotaract Club of Corozal; the SCA Wavemaker Club from Belize; Kanisha Cocom from Cayo; Ishmael Garbutt from Stann Creek and Marvin Vasquez from Toledo.
