Today, August first is Emancipation day - marking the 185th anniversary of the abolition of slavery and apprenticeship in Belize.
The holiday was observed for the third time in Belize - and it happened yesterday at the Government House in Belize City. The event featured drumming, poetry, a libation and historical perspective. Here are a few highlights:
