The Belize Carnival Road March will be on a new route this year-end hopefully with that comes some new energy.
So far, 5 senior bands and 5 junior bands have registered and the Carnival Association expects that up to 15 or more bands will register in the weeks to come.
Here's what the president of the Carnival Association shared with us today.
Patrick Thompson, President, Belize Carnival Association
"For Carnival, we started already. We had our launch last month. And on the 17th of August, we will be having our Miss Carnival inside the Civic Center, where both the junior winner and the senior winner will be ambassadors for the Carnival Association, right?"
"But the planning and thing, we're on track, you know? So we are ready for the road."

"Any big highlights this year? Anything new, anything that people should look forward to?"

Patrick Thompson, President, Belize Carnival Association
"Well, the route is new. And I must say that in the beginning of mentioning the route and talking were a lot of negativity, but now I can say that, you know, people are more gravitating to, let's see what the route will be all about."
"And for me, for me, the route, I believe that, you know, after the Carnival Day, then people, I believe people will say, why they never do this route long time, right? But one thing new that we should be seeing is that a group from PG should be in the road much this year."
"And we are dialoguing with a group from Orange Walk and one from Corozal. So we are trying to bring in the districts into the Belize carnival. One of my biggest dream is for us to have a national carnival."
"And this national carnival is where we would want all the municipalities to have their own carnival and each municipality is going to send their first, second and third police winner to a national carnival."
"That is one of my biggest dream before I leave from this carnival association. And I want to see."
