While his mother remembers a bookish and bright son, for us in the journalism field, we remember - as his former editor at the Amandala Adele Ramos put it, quote, "No story was too small or too big for Aaron Humes. That's how humble and courageous he was!"
Indeed, he was that as well as a gifted writer, with an amazing memory and precise mental recall.
Over a 19 year career, his considerable talents took him from PlusTV to Amandala, to KREM, Channel 5 and breaking Belize News
Isani Cayetano worked with him in his brief stint at Channel 5 gave us his recollection of him:

"So I met Aaron Humes, I'd say around 2013 and at the time he was a print journalist for the Amandala news paper and I am always reading and going through some of the local publications and then I saw this name in the Amandala and his writing style is what caught my attention initially. I didn't know who the fellow was. I just found myself finding his articles and his news stories interesting because of the perspectives and his uncanny use of words. And eventually he started venturing out into the field so when I was still active in reporting and we would go to various assignments he would pop up so that is why I got to know him personally and my memories of him go all the way back to 2013 as someone who was rather unique but lovable nonetheless."

"You've worked with him so what would you say was one of his most outstanding features?"
Isani Cayetano, News Director, GBM
"His ability to write, his ability to write a story and draw the reader into it. As I mentioned when I used to read the Amandala either the biweekly version or weekend edition I always looked out for his stories because in a sense we could relate to how we write and how we approach telling a story. And so that is what drew me to him in terms of knowing who he was both professionally and learning about him in his personal life."
