We often report on the tensions between Guatemalan and Belizean Fishers in southern waters. But, we've learned that there's also friction in the northern waters which connect Belize and Mexico. But it's not so much between fisherfolk as it is between tour guides.

We've gotten a video that captures a hostile exchange between a Belizean boat owner and what appears to be a Mexican tour guide both arguing about whose territory they are in. Here's the perspective from the Belizean tour guide:

Speaker1
"We were okay until this guy came here and started arguing about territory and that is what they always do with different anglers in their boat and this is everyday S*. This is Pio from Xf flats this is what you guys pay for, this is what you guys pay for Pio, okay? "

My friends I don't make problem, change your map

Speaker2
"Change your map? Change your map? Listen to him "

"This here is Mexico my friend."

Speaker1
"This is what you pay for. This is what they pay for instead dog you guys looking for fish you are just arguing, international waters in-between 2 countries you can fish whenever you want. "

We reached out to the Belizean ambassador to Mexico and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for comment but up to news time they had not responded.
