It's a long way to May but Belize's best young spellers are already burning the books to see who the country's best speller will be. The National Coca-Cola Spelling Bee started yesterday and today it made its way into Belize City where city schools divided into four zones faced off at Saint Mary's to find the best speller in Belize District, that is.
At the end of this morning's round for North side Zone 1 there were two winners here's how that went.
Belize District Finalist #1,
"I wanted to win but I was kind of nervous and my teacher and mother took me up a lot so I thank them for that. I think I will do very well in the other competitions as long as I study more and didn't rteally study for this one so I need to do more.
Belize District Finalist #2,
"Í felt nervous and it was difficult. I think I will do good once I study harder."
City zone eliminations continued throughout the day. The zone eliminations will continue in every district up until the February, 26th leading up to the district finals in April and ends with the national finals at the end of May.
