Yesterday, the faculty, staff and students at the Buena Vista Government in the Cayo district School were gifted with a brand new school building, which was built with funding from the Caribbean Development Bank.

The building costs approximately $476,500.

SIF's director explained more about the benefits of this new building:

Daniel Cano, Director - Social Investment Fund

"This particular project valued at over $476,000 benefits 185 students and entailed the construction of 4 classroom building with bathrooms for students and teachers. The project will enhanced the tremendous work being done here by Mrs. August and her staff in the education of our children. In so doing the school and the Government of Belize will contribute to the aim of having every school age child in primary school; a key component in the Government's poverty reduction strategy."

This new building provides much-needed space for the school which previously had only 2 buildings to house a population of 185 students, 8 teachers and staff.
