There are shakeups in municipal and central government to report tonight.
First, to municipal. 7news has been reliably informed from multiple sources that Belize City councilor Michael Theus has been stripped of the Traffic Portfolio.
Reports say that the portfolio has now been assigned to Councilor Alifah Elrington. It seems there was a problem with the issuance of Taxi licenses - when there should have been a moratorium on this. Mayor Darrell Bradley is out of the country and Deputy Mayor Dion Leslie told us he doesn't know about that and that we should wait for an official announcement after the mayor returns.
This evening, we reached Theus and he told us it is a personal decision he made to separate himself from the department - and he will give an interview with the Mayor when he returns.
