And what about that new curriculum that's supposed to be rolled out? Well, Maheia says it's still in its first year, a year that G.O.B. has deemed one of transition.

Here's what she told us about shifting focus from primary to the high school curriculum and to an overall competency-based system.

Dian Maheia, C.E.O, Education

"We are currently, uh, working with. Secondary schools, so since last month, this month into May, um the team is visiting high schools across the country, finding out again what their needs are, what their perspective is, what their concerns are, really it's a lot of looking at the concerns, how do you begin to move toward more competency-based learning but again the general atmosphere seems to be positive right, the people acknowledge the concerns and change is always different right, so if you can acknowledge the fact that we have concerns. We aren't sure about certain things we need to figure things out that is where we are, we are figuring things out as we plan for the coming academic year for secondary schools. So, was the final pilot successful in terms of, its. Still ongoing remember this is we are still in the academic year you know. So let's not jump ahead here."

"So remember this is considered our transition year, especially for the primary schools, so primary schools have been a lot more engaged with secondary schools now we are just working with them on like the learning outcomes, getting feedback from them and so we are further ahead with primary than we are with secondary."
