As you just heard, the problem is chronic - and seems to happen at the start of every year. In 2022, it was the instructors at ITVET Corozal who were lashing out.
At that time we did ask the Minister about it - and he said a solution was on the horizon. His remarks from August of 2022:

"They are valid legitimate concerns being expressed by the instructors, the ITVET instructors. So we really have to take a really critical look at the entire ITVET structure. But I think fundamentally reform that structure."
"You know, we have these instructors on one-year contracts. And that is not an effective way. And I believe that, you know, it's not today, it's very, very near future. We'll have these issues resolved to the benefit of the instructors."
The teachers today expressed frustration that Fonseca had not delivered a solution since that interview in 2022.
